Young Enock Emerged Best in Africa-Awarded MF Title
During World Draughts Championship which took place in St Petersburg, Russia from 2 - 11 October 2015, Enock Makoka Banda sturned players as he emerged best in Africa and finished 41 in the world. His performance was so amazing that the International Draughts Federation IDF at its extra ordinary meeting awarded the young lad with an MF Title. He is the first Malawian player to attain such a title in draughts64.
Genius Young Enock Defends National Title
Genius young Enock Makoka Banda sometimes known as Enonge has jealously defended the national championship title in yet another undefeated style. He played like a machine from game 1 to game number 54 without allowing any player scoring. He won 22 games and drew 5 amassing 49 points out of possible 54 points. “I want to be the first Master in draughts from Malawi before becoming the first Grand Master, that’s my dream”. Said Enock when asked his ambition. The Champ went away with a trophy, gold medal, Diploma and a cash prize of 85000 Malawi Kwacha (250 USD). According to IDF he is likely to get an official invitation from the international body to participate in the World Draughts-64 Championships 2015 among men and women (Russian and Brazilian version) to be held in St. Petersburg (Russia) from 02 of October (day of arrival) to 11 of October, 2015 (departure day)
On second position was a veteran Madalitso Thom also nick named Baba from Lilongwe city who gave tough time to the champ by amassing the same points but he was beaten by the champ in their match hence on second position. Baba defended his second position as well. He went away with a silver medal, Diploma and a cash prize of 50000 Malawi Kwacha (150 USD).
A bronze medal went to another veteran from Blantyre city, Jalasi Matiyasi who was on position number 3, a great improvement from him as he was on position 4 in last National final.
Former Champion Ganizani Majawa (2013) found it tough going and found himself on position 5. He got a ban last year after absconding last final without valid reasons for 6 months which according to him affected his performance.
