Malawi To Host 2nd African Draughts-64 Championship
Malawi has won rights to host the Second African Draughts-64 Championship slated to take place from 8 to 14 July 2018. In a letter to Malawi Government through the Association of Draughts in Malawi, IDF President Vladamia Langin said he is happy that the Government of Malawi has accepted to support the continental event.
The Championship will take place in the commercial city of Malawi, Blantyre at Malawi Sun Hotel. More than ten countries are expected to battle out for the most prestigious prizes organized by The Association of Draughts in Malawi with financial support from The Government of Malawi and International Draughts Federation in Consultation with African Draughts Federation. Countries that have so far confirmed are Malawi (hosts), Zambia, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Ethiopia, DR Congo, Tanzania, Ghana, Namibia and South Africa. Other prospective countries are Nigeria, Kenya and Mozambique The winner of the African Championship is crowned GMI instantly and also qualifies for the World Championship next year.
